One and a half million U.S. veterans are at risk of homelessness, often due to a lack of early access to benefits, housing, and mental health support. While over 45,000 veteran service organizations exist nationwide, many veterans don’t know where to start or how to qualify for services. Additionally, many of the case managers and social workers that veterans turn to in crisis also struggle to navigate fragmented systems and outdated directories.
That’s why the Kyle Palmieri Foundation teamed up with Backpacks for Life to bring ROGER, a free online resource hub that connects veterans, service members, and military families to resources and support, to Long Island.
ROGER is currently available in Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties, as well as all of New Jersey. We have plans to expand ROGER across all of New York State beginning in 2027.
